Waterfall at Tegenungan Village
When you have mountains and a rain forest, you likely have waterfalls. This one is at Tegenungan village just a short drive along a dirt road from the paved roads of Ubud. With the attraction of visitors to the waterfall, comes the opportunity to open shops and souvenir stands near the parking lot and admission ticket booth. From the ticket booth, we made our way along the trail to the steps leading down to the base of the waterfall. The desire to see the changing view of the falls as we descend is in conflict with our need to watch carefully each step we make down the steep uneven stone stairway. At last we reach the base of the stair. But wait! We could swim in the deep pool at the base of the roaring falls if we only had a swimsuit! Never fear! There is a very handy shop right there that sells swimwear. The large rounded wet rocks at the base of the falls make for difficult walking, but the payoff is great! The roar of the falls, the mist in the air and the coolness of the air make a wonderful retreat from the jungle heat.
