"Tell me what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"
What a great quote from The Summer Day by Mary Oliver! Well, when you put it that way, what am I planning to do with my one and only wild and precious life??? Makes you think, doesn't it? Am I doing what I want? Am I living my best life? Have I let myself be boxed in by the expectations of others, by the "norm", or by my own interpretation of what I think I should do? We finally realized that's exactly what we had done - all of the above! And it's not that we weren't happy. We were. Maybe we just outgrew our box.
I guess the point of this post is to encourage thinking about things in different ways. Travel has helped us look at people and places and situations and ourselves differently. It's fun to see how innovative people can be, and although we aren't there yet, we feel ourselves growing and stretching beyond the tidy little box we built for ourselves over the past 40 or so years. To quote Galinda from Wicked, "so let's get started cause we've got an awfully long way to go!"
